About EditImg.online

What this is

EditImg.online is a free image toolkit that runs inside your web browser. It resizes, crops, filters and converts JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files, one at a time or a few hundred at once, and hands the results back as a single ZIP. The 32 filters — Y2K and retro digital looks, film emulations, black and white, and special effects — each carry a strength slider, and are applied to a whole batch just as readily as to one photo. There is no account, no daily limit, no export credit and no watermark. It exists because the obvious task of “make this photo 1200 pixels wide” still, in 2026, usually means uploading a personal file to a stranger’s server and waiting.

How it works, and why it works that way

Every operation runs on your own device using the browser’s built-in Canvas graphics engine. Your images are never transmitted, never stored and never seen by us — not as a policy we promise to keep, but as a consequence of where the code runs. Once the page has loaded, the tool keeps working with no network at all. The trade-off is deliberate: faster and more capable WebAssembly encoders exist, but they need SharedArrayBuffer, which needs COOP and COEP headers, which block advertising iframes outright. Since ads are what pay for the site, the Canvas API was the honest choice. One side effect is worth knowing — canvas export always strips metadata, including EXIF and GPS coordinates.

Who builds it

One developer. Bug reports and feature requests genuinely get read — the fastest way to get something fixed is to say which browser you were using and what the file was, since everything happens in your browser and the browser is usually the variable that matters.

How it is paid for

Advertising, and nothing else. There is no paid tier, no data to sell — we never receive your files in the first place — and no plan to introduce either. Ads are placed well away from the editor controls, so that a misclick is not part of the business model.
